Our now traditional curtain raiser to the new season was held on Thursday 9th September, played at Windleshaw Club.

This year, the Fixture once again featured St.Teresas, who retained their Division One Championship in 2009 and were also the defending Champions Challenge holders, beating Holy Cross the year before. They were up against Eccleston Social Club, who won the Division Two title in 2009..

A very keenly fought, and very tight match saw the first 4 frames shared between the teams, with Eccleston taking a tiny 2 point lead in the aggregate scores. For St.Teresas, Mark Richardson and Darren Oakes had been victorious, with Phil Richmond and Shaun Kelly winning for Eccleston Social.

However, the game breaker came from Man of the Match, Jeff Unsworth for Eccleston as he enjoyed a fantastic 40 point win in his frame. This meant that, despite victory for Mike Bennett for St.Teresas, the margin was just too much to reel in, and Eccleston Social were victorious by the score of 4-3.

Eccleston captain, John Armitage received the trophy for his side to complete an excellent night of snooker and give our new season the rousing start it deserves.
Well done to everyone who took part and we look forward to seeing who will shootout in the Champions Challenge 2011...!
